Emery’s men are the Premier League's final representatives in Europe this season and Greek side Olympiacos stand in the way of a first European final since 1982.

Jubilant Aston Villa fan Luke spoke to Cundy and Jamie O’Hara on Thursday night and kicked off his call with a well-timed monologue in tribute to his team.

“The sleeping giant has awoken the pride of the Midlands, the only English team still representing England on European territory,” he said. “The European Cup winners are back and coming to conquer again. In Unai we trust. Come on the Villa boys.”

But Chelsea fan Cundy stopped shy of buying into Villa’s renaissance just yet and quickly shot down suggestions the Midlands club are a sleeping giant.

“Luke you’ve opened your eyes, you’re having a big yawn and a big stretch at the moment and you haven’t quite got out of bed yet,” Cundy replied.

Luke hit back at the talkSPORT host saying: “Are you a bit jealous of the Villa boys?”

Cundy replied: “You’re saying you’re sleeping giants but sleeping giants are out of bed and off out for a 15-mile run every morning. Villa aren’t doing that yet are they?”

Luke saved his best for last, as he produced a quick-witted dig at Cundy and his beloved Blues.

“How long have Chelsea been in bed? They’ve been in bed for about three years haven’t they?,” said Luke to which Cundy responded with. “You lot have been in slumberland for the last 40 years, pipe down.”

It was all good-natured fun between the pair with both club’s having registered key victories over the past week.
