TalkSPORT pundit Darren Bent names the player who is ‘starting to cost Liverpool’

Liverpool have had a few bad days, and suddenly there is a chance that Jurgen Klopp’s final season at Anfield could end in bitter disappointment.

True, Liverpool have already won the Carabao Cup this season, but the Anfield faithful want the Premier League and/or the UEFA Europa League as well.

Things have not been great for the Reds in their last three matches in all competitions.

Following a 2-2 draw with Manchester United away from home at Old Trafford in the Premier League, Liverpool went down 3-0 to Atalanta at Anfield in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals.

Liverpool then slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Anfield in the Premier League this past weekend.

Darren Bent has identified a problem with Liverpool. The former Tottenham Hotspur striker thinks that Darwin Nunez missing chances is costing the Reds.

The talkSPORT pundit has noted a great chance that the 24-year-old Uruguay striker missed in the second half against Palace. It left Jamie Carragher really frustrated as well.

Darren Bent gives verdict on Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez

Bent said about Nunez on talkSPORT (4:26 pm, April 15, 2024): “From a Liverpool perspective, I know Liverpool fans love Darwin Nunez, I like him, but some of the misses are starting to cost Liverpool.

“Darwin Nunez, he does so many good stuff where he is running around, works hard, gets himself into good positions, but then that last little composure.

“At times you can go, ‘Ha, it’s funny’, but it gets to a point where you start to go, ‘Okay, enough’s enough. Start putting the ball in the net’.”

Darwin Nunez needs to be more clinical

Darwin Nunez is the second-highest goalscorer for Liverpool this season. The striker has scored 18 goals in 47 matches in all competitions. Nunez has also given 13 assists in those games.

The problem is that Nunez misses too many chances. The striker’s goal conversion rate is only 14%.

That needs to improve. Nunez is still only 24, and I think that he needs to work on his finishing a lot.
