Hull City to reignite interest in Liverpool winger

Hull City are being tipped to reignite their interest in Liverpool winger Ben Woodburn.

The Tigers were heavily linked with a move for the 19-year-old in January and are set to try again this summer, according to a report by GOAL.

There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the KCOM Stadium at the moment with manager Nigel Adkins’ future at the club still up in the air. His contract expires next month and he is still yet to sign a new one.

Hull will have to bring in players this summer in order to remain competitive in the Championship, despite owner Assem Allam saying in an interview earlier this week that he is no longer going to invest money into the club.

The Tigers’ squad is currently thin with Evandro, Ondrej Mazuch and Will Keane all leaving the club on free transfers with David Marshall and Fraizer Campbell likely to follow. Loanees Todd Kane, Chris Martin and Marc Pugh have all also gone back to their parent clubs and they will face a battle to hold of Jarrod Bowen, Kamil Grosicki and Markus Henriksen which shows the importance of bringing players in.

Woodburn, who is a Wales international with 10 caps and two goals to his name, will Liverpool on loan this summer for more first-team experience. He is highly-rated by the Champions League finalists but needs more regular football under his belt.

He spent the first half of last season on loan at Sheffield United but struggled to break into the team. Hull is an interesting proposition for him because he would be guaranteed to play every week.
