Casemiro tops the list of star players who have missed out on Brazil's Copa America squad.

The Manchester United man has endured a torrid campaign in which he has come in for criticism as a result of his display for Erik ten Hag's struggling side.

As a result, the 32-year-old has lost his place in Dorival Jr's squad for this summer's competition.

Casemiro was named as Brazil's national team captain in March last year, however his form this term has clearly seen him overtaken by a number of other stars.

His spot in central midfield could be filled by another Premier League player, with Bruno Guimaraes, Lucas Paqueta, Joao Gomes, Andreas Pereira and Douglas Luiz all making the cut.

Casemiro enjoyed a strong start to life at United after his move from Madrid last season as he made 51 appearances and helped them win the League Cup.

However, the 32-year-old has featured just 29 times in the current campaign and his performance at  Selhurst Park was arguably his worst for the club.

Casemiro wasn't the only high-profile star to miss out, with Richarlison and Gabriel Jesus also failing to make the cut.

The Tottenham and Arsenal stars have struggled to impress on a consistent basis this term, allowing other players to surpass them in the pecking order.

They include Gabriel Martinelli and Real Madrid duo Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr, who have shone for Los Blancos in La Liga and the Champions League.

They are also joined in the squad by Brazilian wonderkid Endrick, who will head to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer ahead of the new season.

Elsewhere, Alisson and Ederson have been called up as goalkeeping options, while Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes is also included.

Graeme Souness thinks he's been proved right by Manchester United's Casemiro and is unsurprised by Brazilian's totting up of yellow cards

While Neymar misses out as a result of his long-standing injury, Barcelona forward Raphinha does make the cut.
