Newcastle fans clearly don't want to see star midfielder Bruno Guimaraes go anywhere.

Ahead of their home game against Sheffield United, the Toon supporters unveiled a special flag display in honour of the Brazilian after news of his release clause became public.

talkSPORT understands that Paris Saint-Germain have initiated transfer talks over a summer move for the 26-year-old.

However, they aren't the only club who are interested, with Real Madrid and Manchester City sniffing around due to the player's £100million release clause.

The details of Guimaraes' contract have been confirmed by manager Eddie Howe, with the special fee only available until the end of June, giving teams limited time to swoop in for the ex-Lyon man.

Of course, if a club were to activate the clause, it would also give Newcastle plenty of time to find a replacement.

However, the thought of Guimaraes leaving clearly isn't on Newcastle fans' minds.

Wor Flags, which is the fan group that takes responsibility for pre-match displays at St James' Park, organised a very special display for Guimaraes.

It consisted of a Brazilian flag in the Gallowgate End, which served as a joint tribute with Joelinton, who just signed a new deal.

The Brazilian then scored at the Gallowgate End to put Newcastle 2-1 up in a 5-1 win that relegated Sheffield United.

Speaking after the game to the club's official X account, he said: "I was speaking with Joe [Joelinton] in the changing room. We wanted to cry.

"It was very special. I made an effort not to cry on the pitch because it was very beautiful.

"My family were very happy, so thank you to the fans, they have been unbelievable with me."

Since he joined from Lyon in January 2022, Guimaraes has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, while his love for Newcastle fans is clear.

He signed a new deal in 2023, which included a special release clause, which Howe confirmed ahead of the clash against the Blades.

He said: "Having that was well planned and structured in the sense that there’s a finish point.

"We don’t want a summer of speculation. I don’t think that would be healthy for the player or for us.

"We want to keep Bruno.

"We want to build our team around him. He’s an integral part of what we’re doing. His form has been very good. He seems very happy and settled here.

"He’s a big part of where we can hopefully take the team. But we’re not in control of that, so we shall see."
