Logan Paul consoles fired WWE wrestler who was axed days after being made ‘job for life’ promise

Logan Paul had consoling words for fired WWE star Cameron Grimes who claims he was axed by the company just days after being assured of his job.

The SmackDown star posted a tearful address on his X account having been told he was being released by the grappling giant after five years there.

A former North American and Million Dollar Champion on the company's NXT brand, the North Carolinian said in a post captioned 'Thank you. @WWE':"This is Trevor Lee also known as Cameron Grimes.

"I just got off the phone to WWE and, unfortunately, I have been released from my contract.

"Five years ago, the last thing I was able to tell my father [was] that I'd signed with the WWE.

"I loved working here, I loved working at the WWE and I want to thank absolutely everybody that's helped me."

Astonishingly, however, Grimes later revealed in an interview that his firing came just days after he'd been effectively assured of his position with WWE for life.

Speaking on Busted Open, he detailed his own insecurities over his work security, taking them to a 'pretty high' executive who, he says, eased his concerns.

"I knew that I haven't worked in over a year and I'm making a decent salary," explained Grimes, referring to his lack of television exposure with WWE over the last 12 months.

"So I knew that if someone was to look at the books, I'm going to be the first person that's going to be cut, if you're looking at it strictly as money-wise.

"But if you're looking at it as like: 'Okay, well, if this is a talent that can do something for us…' You know what I mean? they're going to keep me.

"So I was told by a high executive last week on Friday that I would always have a job here. I would never have to worry about losing my job here, after expressing my concerns like that to him."

Implying that confiding in that executive had effectively cost him his job, Grimes added: "[Then], five days later, they called me and told me that I do lose the job. So, I don't know."

A charismatic personality, it’s likely Grimes will have no shortage of future work offers in the wrestling industry.

His notable outings for WWE included a rivalry with legend Ted ‘Million Dollar Man’ DiBiase and LA Knight, and the North American title win at NXT Stand & Deliver 2022.

He’s also featured previously on the independent scene and for TNA Wrestling, despite being only 30 years of age.

Among those reaching out to him in the immediate wake of his WWE exit is United States Champion Logan Paul.

Grimes revealed the contact from the ‘megastar’ when asked about those who’d offered words of comfort, saying: "This is gonna sound weird because the level of star he is, but Logan Paul actually reached out to me.

“I thought that was pretty cool because he’s a megastar really, even beyond wrestling.
