Ian Wright’s Tottenham message after Arsenal’s 5-0 win over Chelsea leaves Glenn Hoddle in hysterics

It’s the small matter of the north London derby up next for Arsenal after they thrashed Chelsea on Tuesday night at the Emirates.

Tottenham might be fighting for Champions League football, but you just feel their fans will have other thoughts on their mind when Arsenal rock up to town.

The Gunners will make the short trip to their rivals’ backyard on Sunday hoping to boost their Premier League title chances.

As of this moment, they are four points clear of Manchester City after humiliating Chelsea 5-0, but the current holders have two games in hand.

What’s interesting here is that Ange Postecoglou’s side could and might just play a huge part in Arsenal becoming champions of England, or even ensuring that their dreams turn into a nightmare.

If Spurs lose at the weekend, then proceed to beat Liverpool and Manchester City in the coming weeks, then it probably hands the title to Mikel Arteta’s side.

A scary scenario for Tottenham to be in, especially given that their last home game of the season will be against Pep Guardiola’s side.

After Arsenal beat Chelsea, Ian Wright was discussing the remaining games in the run-in with Glenn Hoddle when talk turned to Tottenham.

The legendary striker admitted that he is ‘praying’ someone can cause the current champions and Liverpool problems, as he told Premier League Productions (23/04/24 at 10:35 pm).

Before Wright stated that Spurs ‘deserve’ a top-four finish, which left Hoddle and presenter Steve Bower bursting out with laughter.

Will Tottenham do Arsenal a favour in the Premier League title race?

“I still think that there is maybe somewhere along the lines, I am praying, that someone can cause Man City a problem or Liverpool a problem, so it can come down to it because if it comes down to goal difference,” said Wright.

Hoddle then told Wright: “You might need Tottenham to do you a favour.”

“Might need Tottenham. If Tottenham can do us a favour. I just want Tottenham to do the best they can because they deserve to be in the top four,” added Wright to the laughter of Hoddle.

“I love it,” responded the Spurs legend.

Tottenham are in charge of their own destiny

It’s simple. Beat Arsenal on Sunday and you just know their title hopes will be over.

Spurs themselves shouldn’t have any excuses here. Not only are they at home, but they haven’t played since April 13 when they were thrashed 4-0 by Newcastle United.

Unlike Arsenal, they should be fresh as a daisy and ready to cause their neighbours all sorts of issues.

But like last season, if Arsenal are victorious, then Spurs fans will be fearing the worst heading into the final few weeks of the campaign.
