Amorim was pictured flying out of Portugal on Monday following a training session with Sporting, and was accompanied by businessman Raul Costa.

Sporting players have been given Tuesday and Wednesday off, ahead of a huge clash with rivals Porto this Sunday.

With the downtime, Amorim took the opportunity to travel to London for talks with West Ham chiefs.

However, it is now believed that it is unlikely he will be joining the Hammers.

The Hammers are assessing their managerial options ahead of the summer with David Moyes coming to the end of his contract and expected to depart.

Former Wolves and Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui has also been put forward as a potential replacement for Moyes.

Lille boss Paulo Fonseca is also a contender, but no formal talks have been held.

Despite the speculation, Amorim refused to discuss where he'd been on Monday, instead focusing on Sporting's remaining fixtures.

He returned to Portugal just after midnight on Tuesday, and was quizzed on his trip and his future plans by a number of journalists.

"See you Saturday," he replied, with a smile on his face, in a reference to his next press conference.

Amorim is hot property at the moment having been heavily linked with the soon-to-be vacant Liverpool post too with Jurgen Klopp set to leave.

talkSPORT reported that the 39-year-old had held talks with the Reds, although he is not considered among the frontrunners currently.

Amorim has already completed Portuguese football having won the Taca de Liga - the Portuguese League Cup - with previous club Braga, before winning the Primeira Liga in his first full season with Sporting.

They now have the opportunity to do the league and cup double this term with Sporting seven points clear at the top of the table and set to face Porto in the Taca de Liga final.

Porto are next up for Sporting too, with Amorim now clearly turning all of his attention to the crunch clash with the Portuguese giants.

Should he win both competitions, it could be the perfect way to leave on good terms and prepare for a new challenge in the Premier League.
